[red Hat] Squid Che Si Autokilla

Salve a tutti,come avrete capito ho un problema con un'installazione di squid (Squid Cache: Version 2.5.STABLE1) su redhat (versione 9).

Il problema è che faccio partire squi /service squid start) e mi da ok,ma poi non lo posso stoppare,in quanto si stoppa da solo. Se provo sia a stopparlo che a fare un service squid status,questo è quello che mi dice:

squid dead but pid file exists

squid: ERROR: Could not send signal 0 to process 3318: (3) No such process

Se faccio un riavvio della macchina,o il reset dei log (access.log,cache.log,store.log) il serivizio funziona per un po'.Ma basta una decina di minuti di navigazione per ripiantarsi e dare lo stesso errore...

Eppure i dischi non sono pieni e memoria ce n'è a bizzeffe ne lla macchina...
